Mainova WebHouse

Efficiency and Responsibility

Currently, Mainova WebHouse in Frankfurt is building one of the most efficient and sustainable data centers in Frankfurt. The pioneering overall concept of the new data center campus in Gwinnerstrasse in Frankfurt protects the climate and resources and sets new standards for responsible data center construction in Frankfurt.

The green facts

  • 100% green electricity
  • Photovoltaic systems on the facades for own power production
  • Facade and roof greening for an improved microclimate
  • Exhaust gas aftertreatment of the network replacement systems ("AdBlue")
  • PUE: 1.2
  • LEED Gold Standard certification

Conserve resources

  • Extraction of environmentally friendly waste heat to supply surrounding office buildings, hotels, event venues and shopping centers
  • Sustainable dry cooling for low water consumption
  • We upright regional supply chains in order to avoid long transport routes
  • Plantings are watered with collected rainwater
  • Use of recyclable raw materials

Green Data Centers for the Future

A Market of the Future - On the Way to the Climate-Neutral Data Center

Worldwide, data center capacity has more than quadrupled in the last 10 years alone. On the one hand, this promotes digital transformation; on the other hand, it is more important than ever to meet this rapidly growing demand responsibly, with sustainable and sensible measures. This is precisely the goal of Mainova WebHouse.

Mainova WebHouse implements various measures in its data centers to reduce its Co2 footprint:

  • Waste heat recovery:
In conventional data centers, the valuable server waste heat is usually released unused into the environment. The waste heat from our servers is used to heat the office space of the data center. The waste heat from the campus MWH01, which is currently under construction, is used to heat the concert hall of the national cultural center "Batschkapp".

  • Photovoltaic panels on the facades:
The south facade is lined with PV panels. The electricity generated is used to light the building and to power the heat pumps for waste heat recovery.

  • Device AdBlue exhaust gas aftertreatment:
The exhaust gases from the diesel engines are particularly low in pollutants thanks to AdBlue aftertreatment. This measure is above the market standard - our competitors do not use ADBlue.
  • Facade and roof greening
To improve the local microclimate. On the one hand, this protects the roof surface from the effects of wind and weather, heat and UV radiation, thus extending the service life of the roof. At the same time, the greenery acts as thermal insulation in winter, as well as heat protection in summer. In addition, green roofs and facades act as pollutant and air filters, thus improving the environmental climate.

  • 100% green electricity
The buildings are powered 100% by electricity from renewable sources. The electricity from the company's own photovoltaic systems is included here.

  • Other measures:
Planned mobility services such as electric charging stations and car/bike sharing for the workforce.
