Data Center in Frankfurt

Mainova WebHouse GmbH & Co. KG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mainova AG, is building an innovative data center campus in the Seckbach district of Frankfurt with around 10,500 square meters of space and a total IT load of around 30 megawatts. Today (Oct. 14), the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony took place on the site between Gwinnerstrasse and Mergenthaler Strasse.

Frankfurt's Head of Economic Affairs Stephanie Wüst emphasized: "Data centers represent a central element of digital infrastructures and are one of the basic prerequisites for the economic development of the location. The construction of the new Mainova data center in Gwinnerstrasse is a forward-looking step for Frankfurt. With its investment, Mainova is also making an exemplary contribution to regional value creation."

Mainova CEO Dr. Constantin H. Alsheimer said: "Mainova is intensively driving forward the energy transition and decarbonization. In line with our sustainability strategy, we are developing one of the most efficient and sustainable data centers in Frankfurt. For example, the buildings feature optimal space utilization for high computing power per square meter as well as ecological construction. In addition, the waste heat from the data center is used as heating energy. With this innovative showcase project, we are opening up a new business model in a dynamic growth market and supporting the city of Frankfurt and our customers in implementing their climate protection goals."

Oliver Schiebel, Managing Director of Mainova-Webhouse added: "The Mainova WebHouse data center campus is supplied with one hundred percent green electricity. This is also helped by the company's own photovoltaic systems for generating solar energy on site. The greening of the façade and outdoor area contributes to insulation and cooling, in addition to a sophisticated visual appearance. In addition, there are plans to heat buildings in the neighborhood with the waste heat in addition to the company's own office space."

By means of LoRaWAN, the plants will be irrigated in a resource-saving way. In addition, a green strip between the buildings will be preserved and maintained for insects, birds and bats. In addition, there will be mobility services such as electric charging stations and car and bike sharing for the workforce.

The Mainova data center campus is expected to be ready for occupancy from January 2024.
